We recently welcomed Victorian Minister for Housing The Hon. Nick Staikos, Steve Dimopoulos MP, Member for Oakleigh, senior representatives from Homes Victoria and Department of Treasury and Finance, Aboriginal Housing Victoria CEO Darren Smith, CHIA Victoria CEO Sarah Toohe to mark the completion of our new development in Carnegie.
The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the completed development, the partnership behind it and, most importantly, what these new homes will make possible for residents.
Located in the heart of Carnegie, the development delivers 106 new social and affordable homes, providing residents with access to secure, high-quality housing in a well-connected location close to public transport, shops, local services and community amenities.
Guests toured the new apartments and shared spaces, seeing first-hand how the development has been designed to support not only quality housing, but opportunities for residents to feel connected to their neighbours and the wider Carnegie community.
The project was delivered in partnership with Homes Victoria through the Victorian Government’s Big Housing Build, demonstrating what can be achieved when government, community housing and sector partners work together to deliver much-needed homes.
A highlight of the visit was hearing directly from a new resident Les, who shared what being offered a new home has meant to him:
“I was a bit emotional when I was offered a place here, and I couldn’t be happier. I’m sure everyone who’s been offered a home here feels the same.”

Les’ words capture the real outcome behind a project like this. While the development represents 106 new homes, for each resident it represents something personal – a place to feel secure, settle in and build a life.
A whole-of-Housing Choices achievement
A project of this scale takes many people and teams working together over many years, and the completion of Carnegie is a significant achievement for everyone involved.
We want to acknowledge and thank all the Housing Choices teams who worked tirelessly to make this project possible – from Finance, Investment and commercial transactions, Development and Projects, Property and Asset Management, Allocations and Housing, Legal, Risk and Corporate Services, through to our frontline Victorian staff supporting the transition of residents into their new homes.
Behind the completed building are countless hours of planning, coordination and collaboration. The commitment of our people, together with our delivery partners, has helped turn a vision for more social and affordable housing into 106 homes where people can now live, belong and build their futures.
The visit was also an opportunity to strengthen our relationships with government, housing and community partners and share our collective commitment to delivering more homes and creating communities where residents can thrive.
Now, the building is complete. Residents are settling in, making connections and making these houses homes. The community is just beginning.
