Landmark BTR Project Announced for Perth
Today Housing Choices Australia was thrilled to be joined by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Housing Minister Julie Collins, WA Premier Roger Cook, WA Housing Minister John Carey and partners DevelopmentWA and Super Housing Partnerships, to announce a significant Build To Rent project that will deliver 219 apartments across social, affordable and market categories in downtown Perth.
Located in Pier St, only minutes from Perth’s CBD, the development will provide 219 apartments across social, affordable and market categories in downtown Perth. Thirty per cent of the dwellings will be allocated for social housing; the balance being affordable, market and disability housing. An experienced social landlord and property developer, Housing Choices has a significant portfolio of 1846 homes in WA already.
Housing Australia has committed funding to assist Housing Choices and our investment partner, Super Housing Partnerships, to own and manage the building upon completion.
Housing Choices CEO, David Fisher, said the cross-sectoral partnership behind the new, architect-designed community at 195 Pier Street, represented a new approach to delivering social and affordable housing:
“Housing Choices Australia are delighted to be part of the successful partnership that will deliver more than 200 new homes in Perth.
“Housing Choices will manage this mixed tenure development that will offer a range of choice from social and affordable through to market and disability housing. Housing Choices Australia prides itself in its ability to provide outstanding services and are excited to be a part of this project. We look forward to welcoming our first residents in 2026.”
International design practice Hassell is leading the design team with construction forecast to start in the second half of 2024.
