Housing Choices Australia seeks to deliver a range of housing options that meet the needs of our diverse resident group.
To do that well we work with residents, government agencies, support service partners and community organisations to ensure that our design elements and built form are delivering good quality housing into the long term.
We also work to ensure that our properties are designed and located to facilitate the creation of resilient and inclusive neighbourhoods.
Different Types of Housing
Long-term Affordable and Social Housing
Housing Choices Australia owns and manages long-term housing properties, including those under the National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS) throughout Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia. Our properties are available to those eligible for people on low and fixed incomes and those with specific housing needs, such as people living with a disability.
We work with individuals, families, support agencies and government to meet specific housing needs. Our rents are offered at subsidised rates, based either on a discount to the market rent or as a percentage of household income.
Allocation of properties is in accordance with state based eligibility criteria and household size to ensure an appropriate fit. Properties range from apartments to houses. Most apartments are located within inner city areas and are one and two bedroom.
Disability and Supported
Housing Choices Australia is one of Australia's leading providers of specialist disability housing.
We dedicate at least 25 per cent of all our tenancies to people living with a disability.
We work with our residents with a disability to provide the best housing and tenancy solution for their needs. All Housing Choices Australia properties are managed by trained housing officers in conjunction with our Specialist Housing Group.
Housing Choices Australia has recently received accreditation as a provider of Specialist Disability Accommodation under the National Disability Insurance Scheme and is working on the development of additional properties to meet the increasing need in this area.
Housing Choices Australia can assist support agencies to find transitional housing for their clients while longer-term options are explored. There is no direct entry into this housing as referrals come through support agencies.
We work with support agencies to ensure clients receive the support and assistance they need for a successful transitional tenancy.
If you are interested in transitional housing, please contact our support agencies to see if they can help you.
Specialist Disability Accomodation
Housing Choices Australia has a proud history of providing accommodation for people with a disability for over 30 years and maintains a strong commitment to continuing its provision of innovative housing for people with a disability into the future.
SDA refers to accommodation for people who require specialist housing solutions that cater for their extreme functional impairment of very high support needs.
