Statement on the outcome of the Voice to Parliament Referendum

Housing Choices Australia has a strong and genuine commitment to achieving the vision articulated in our Reconciliation Action Plan: that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have homes and life opportunities they value, in neighbourhoods that are inclusive and resilient.

We acknowledge and respect the decision of the Australian people in the referendum held on Saturday the 14th October.

We remain steadfast in our resolve to stand alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as we work to improve housing outcomes.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ deep cultural knowledge, wisdom and lived experience must always guide and shape our work. Our commitment to hearing, listening, and working in partnership to achieve sustained, high quality housing outcomes and to enable a strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander housing sector will continue and grow.
