About the project
The Falcon social housing development provides eight modern two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartments in Falcon, southwest of Mandurah, delivering eight much-needed homes amid growing housing demand and rental pressure across Western Australia.
Delivered in partnership with the WA State Government, this $3.4 million development offers modern, accessible and sustainable homes designed to support people on low to moderate incomes.
Located close to shops, medical services, public transport and community amenities, the development helps residents stay connected to essential services and their local community.
All ground-floor apartments have been built to Silver Level Livable Housing Australia Design Guidelines, supporting long-term accessibility and changing mobility needs. The development also incorporates environmentally sustainable features, including water-wise landscaping with local plant species and water-efficient fixtures and fittings.
The project was funded through a capital grant from the WA Department of Housing and Works and constructed by Dale Alcock Projects. The development is now complete, with residents beginning to move into their new homes. Housing Choices Western Australia will manage the homes, providing high-quality, affordable housing that supports long-term wellbeing and community connection.
Housing Choices Western Australia currently manages more than 1,850 properties across the state, supporting almost 2,000 Western Australians with safe, secure and affordable housing.
What is community housing?
The community housing sector is a long standing and vital part of the Australian housing spectrum, alongside public housing and private housing. ‘Social housing’ is an umbrella term that includes both public housing and community housing. It generally indicates housing that involves some rental subsidy.
In Western Australia, public housing is managed by the WA Department of Communities.
Community housing is owned and/or managed by non-government, not-for-profit, registered housing agencies like Housing Choices. We are regulated by the WA Registrar of Community Housing, and have specialist expertise in property development, property management, tenancy management, placemaking and community building.
Community housing residents come from all walks of life; singles, couples, families, older women, newly arrived Australians, and people with disability. Currently there are over 20,000 households on the public housing waitlist in WA.
