About Catherine House
Catherine House is part of the Housing Choices Australia Group and provides accommodation and support services for women experiencing homelessness in South Australia.
Consistent with Housing Choices Australia’s purpose‑driven history and belief that a home is the foundation for building a life, Catherine House delivers recovery‑oriented services that provide safety, stability and pathways to improved personal, social and economic wellbeing.
For more than 30 years, Catherine House has provided safe, secure accommodation alongside tailored support that helps women rebuild stability, independence and connection during periods of significant vulnerability.
Each year, Catherine House supports hundreds of women to move from homelessness into safe and stable housing. By combining secure accommodation with high‑quality, specialist support, women are supported to regain confidence, rebuild their lives and reconnect with community.
Catherine House and Housing Choices Australia Group
Catherine House became part of the Housing Choices Australia Group following a merger in 2021, reflecting a shared commitment to doing more together for women experiencing homelessness.
As a subsidiary, it aligns with Housing Choices Australia’s governance framework, ensuring strong oversight, transparency and compliance across the group. supported by our dedicated on-the-ground teams within Housing Choices’ National Supportive Services Directorate, which delivers specialist housing programs across the country.
Housing Choices Australia has placed a strong strategic focus on Catherine House, supporting its continued growth and impact through investment, organisational capability and specialist support delivered through Housing Choices’ National Supportive Services Directorate.

New Generation Catherine House
Together, Catherine House and Housing Choices Australia are strengthening pathways from crisis accommodation to long-term housing for women.
Construction is officially underway on New Generation Catherine House, a purpose-built accommodation facility that will transform how women experiencing homelessness, domestic and family violence and trauma are supported in South Australia.
The project will deliver 52 new apartments and a dedicated Women’s Centre offering trauma-informed recovery, education, wellbeing and training programs under one roof.
The $36 million project is supported through a combination of Federal and State funding, debt and philanthropic support. Contributions have been made from Housing Australia, the Department of Social Services, SA Housing Authority, and Catherine House donors, with land and equity support from Housing Choices Australia.
Built by Hindmarsh Constructions, a leading Australian construction company the project is expected to be completed in early 2027.
