The Transfer Process

We are expanding our tenancy management portfolio

As a result of the Tasmanian Government’s Community Housing Growth Program, 475 dwellings will transfer to Housing Choices Tasmania and residents will benefit from our quality approach to tenancy and property management services. To assist with this transfer being as seamless as possible, there are some simple steps that Housing Choices Tasmania staff and incoming residents will need to take.

Importantly, our team will be available to make sure the transfer process is as easy as possible. Incoming residents will be able to meet members of our North West Housing Services team and can ask any questions about our organisation, our services and how the transfer will work.

Housing Choices Tasmania will also need incoming residents to complete various documents to assist with the transfer process. To help us and you, we’ve prepared useful Welcome Packs that include all Centrelink forms requiring completion.

Your Housing Tasmania Tenancy Officer will continue to be your primary point of contact for ongoing tenancy enquiries up until Monday 8 November 2021.

What happens with my Lease?

  • You will not need to move out of your home and the terms of your current lease will continue.

Housing Tasmania will manage your lease up until midnight[AB2] Sunday 7 November 2021. Housing Choices Tasmania will become your new housing provider and will manage your lease as of Monday 8 November onwards. At that time, Housing Choices Tasmania will become your first point of contact for all tenancy related matters.

Your current lease with Housing Tasmania will automatically transfer to Housing Choices Tasmania. This means you will not be required to sign a new lease agreement. When your current lease does expire, you will need to sign a new lease with Housing Choices Tasmania. Don’t be concerned by this, as the terms of your lease will be the same as all other housing providers, including Housing Tasmania.
